Special stamp issued to commemorate Ben Ainslie winning gold in 2012 Olympics

The Olympic Games always grab our attention – and our hearts leap when we hear that Team GB has won another medal – especially when it’s gold!!  Ben Ainslie struck gold big time in sailing events at the 2012 Olympics here in UK.

Now at the Winter Olympics we have rejoiced with Lizzy Yarnold and Laura Deas as they bring home gold and bronze medals in the skeleton event in S.Korea. An amazing record for Lizzy as she successfully defends her Winter Olympic title.

The writer of the book of Hebrews (chapter 12:1) in the Bible implies his knowledge of the games in Greece when he urged his readers to run with perseverance the race marked out for us. He urged us to fix our eyes on Jesus.

Life is a kind of race – and we are all running to win, not so much to beat the others but, rather, to complete the course. If we do, then we strike gold!  Staying faithful to God and his Kingdom leads to a crown of glory which the righteous judge will give us, according to Paul the apostle (2 Timothy 4:8)

How are you doing?
