The church serves the picturesque village of Little Sodbury at the foot of the Cotswolds and is on the famous Cotswold and Monarch Way walking trails. \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 St Adeline’s has the distinction of being the only church in the United Kingdom named after St. Adeline, an Abbess of the Benedictine order who died in 1125. It is one of our churches in the Sodbury Vale Benefice.<\/h6>\n

The church is always open during the day and is visited by many walkers. Complimentary fresh water and squash is available at the back of the church, please help yourselves.<\/p>\n

St Adeline’s Parish Profile<\/a><\/h4>\n

We hold a service every Sunday<\/strong>\u00a0(with some special exceptions, check out the <\/em>Service listings<\/a><\/strong> for full details<\/em>). Our services are all using the 1662 Book of Common Prayer (BCP)<\/strong>, with a BCP Evensong on the first 3 sundays of the month and BCP Holy Communion on the 4th Sunday of the month. If you like the old services come and join us on one (or more!) Sunday(s).<\/p>\n

Service Times<\/span><\/h2>\n

Services times change between Winter and Summer. When the clocks go back for Winter, services will start at 4:00pm. \u00a0When they go forward for Summer, services will start at 6:00pm.<\/span><\/h4>\n

St Adeline’s is located near the Manor House in Little Sodbury and has a history associated with William Tyndale, <\/strong>translator of the Bible into English in 1525. (mentioned in the BBC’s “Wolf Hall”<\/strong>, where Thomas Cromwell<\/strong> has a copy of his newly translated Bible)<\/p>\n

We have always had some difficulties at services and in arranging events because we have no toilet facilities at the church. We now have plans for adding these facilities and are seeking the necessary permissions.<\/p>\n

We are also looking at ways to raise the necessary funds to implement this project.<\/p>\n
