Shane Ratcliffe is the Fabric Officer for our church.
The clock is of particular interest as it is over 130 years old. It was installed in the tower in 1887 to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of Queen Victoria. We believe it was made by John Moore of Clerkenwell, London. It has two clock faces on the south and west facing walls of the tower. Until fairly recently it was a fully functioning clock, used by locals and visitors alike. The hands’ movements now need to be refurbished and we are pleased to announce that the appeal to cover the cost of the work needed has successfully achieved its target. Many thanks to all those who donated so generously.
A thanksgiving plaque has now been positioned in the porch, in recognition of the work and effort undertaken to repair the church roof and tower, following the theft of lead from the roof in November 2018 , as well as of the many contributions, both personal and financial.
A thanksgiving service for the completion of the church roof and tower renovations was held on Sunday 5th January 2020. It was led by Rector David Bowers and presided over by Robert Springett, Bishop of Tewkesbury. Recognition was made at the service of the significant role played by our former Honorary Fabric Officer, Richard Kingscott, in planning and overseeing these renovation works. Richard sadly passed away before all the work was successfully completed.
