The events organised by The Friends continue to evolve in quality and are very popular in\u00a0the village and surrounding community. In many ways, they are an advertisement for thechurch as we generate community-based activities which project St John\u2019s as an active\u00a0part of Old Sodbury village.<\/p>\n

Events centre around a themed topic, usually involving a delicious meal \u00a0and drinks with\u00a0supporting entertainment. Funds are raised through ticket sales for the events which are\u00a0usually held in the Old Sodbury Village Hall.<\/p>\n

These very well-attended and much-appreciated events are planned and organised by the Friends committee which is currently made up of Tracy Shipp, Ros Runcie, Linda and Richard Hore.<\/p>\n

June 2019 \u00a0– \u201cAll You Need is Love\u201d Flower Festival<\/p>\n

September 2019 \u00a0– \u2018Bon app\u00e9tit\u2019 (a French-themed autumn celebration)<\/p>\n

The total amount raised in 2019 by The Friends towards the Fabric fund, was in excess of\u00a0\u00a311,000 – a record for the group.<\/p>\n

August 2021 – \u2018Back in the Swing Again\u2019 featuring the Thornbury Swing Band and our first post-pandemic event.

August \u201822 – ABBA\u2019s Angels at Camers \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u201cIt was a brilliant evening.
