With Halloween just around the corner we might be wondering what to do… especially with our children. They are under a lot of peer pressure. What should be our Christian position on what is fundamentally a celebration of evil – to upstage the day that follows: All Saints Day on November 1st? There are possibly a wide variety of opinions from those who think it is completely harmless to dress up as witches and ride broomsticks – or even to just “Trick or Treat?” Others may share similar concerns, however…
Personally my wife and I never felt happy at celebrating Halloween at all – but were aware that we had to give our children something to celebrate. So we celebrated light and had a lot of fun with other Christian friends and their children. After all why should we celebrate darkness at all. It is the complete antithesis of what the Gospel is all about.
Here is a web site that has some good practical suggestions on Christian Alternatives:

Amazon also carries a number of resources on the topic, mostly books.
